Romania Day 3

Today we had the first day of VBS with the children. It was beautiful out and we manged to have 34 children come to it. That was an answer to prayer. We started out VBS by playing games with the children, and then brought them all together with the parachute, which they seemed to enjoy. We sat them all down and taught them some songs for them to sing. Then we had a craft that went along with the story for them to do, which was the Christmas Story. After the story and the craft the children were taught then verse for the day. We gave them all a snack and drink before they played a game. They were split into teams for the game and they had to search for the hidden memory verse. We gave the winning team a small prize. We played more games with the children afterwards before they went home for the day, with a small gift from us. While some of us did VBS with the children, others from our group went to the other location and did construction. They cleaned cobwebs in the church and dug a drainage ditch so that water didn't run into the church, among other things. We all have lunch together before we went to work again. Some finished demolishing the one wall in the church, while some finished the ditch to add running water to the church, and the rest cleaned up debris and chopped wood from the building they had taken down the day before.

I got to spend a lot of time with the children, and even though I didn't understand what they were saying to me, it was nice to just spend time with them. Although one of them was teaching me words in Romanian, without telling me what they meant. I also got to help out a mother with a disabled son by playing with him and watching him for her so she could take a break. Please continue to pray for us as we try to reach people for Christ.
